History of the language
Francorium reads today’s French alongside the dictionaries that witnessed it: Littré (1873, with its 1877 supplement) and the Académie française (1935), with more witnesses to come.

Vanished words
Words attested in the historical witnesses but absent from Francorium’s contemporary nomenclature keep a full entry, clearly marked. Absence from the nomenclature does not by itself prove the word has left the language entirely.
Dated citations
Littré’s citations now carry their authors’ dates (from Malherbe to Hugo), anchoring each sense in its century.
